PINs (Personal Identification Number) are the four-digit sequences used to arm and disarm your SimpliSafe system and it is essential to keeping your home safe.
If you have people coming in and out of your house, why not create multiple PINs? With SimpliSafe you can have one master PIN and four extra custom PINs. This allows you to control your system and see who is coming and going.
We’d recommend for the main homeowner(s) - whether it’s yourself and / or a partner - to use the master PIN but there are scenarios where you could give someone a custom PIN for your home’s security system:
Children - depending on their age, a custom PIN could be a great idea for your children. This way you will know when they are in and out of the house, if they have cheekily stayed out later than curfew etc.
Cleaners- if you have a regular cleaner, it’d be handy for them to have their own PIN. This way you can see when they arrive at your home, how long they were there etc.
Dog walkers - if you’re at work and have a dog walker take your pet out everyday, this way you know that they definitely went out for a walk and when they got back home safe and sound
Estate agent - if you’re in the process of selling your home, you can keep an eye on when the estate agent brings potential buyers to your home for a viewing
Custom PINs could also be created for other family members, friends, a neighbour, babysitter, gardener, the list goes on… But remember, you can only have four custom PINs so choose wisely who you want to give these to.
The Keypad:
- Push the Menu button on the Keypad
- Select PINs
- Follow the onscreen prompts to create and save each new PIN you'd like to add
The SimpliSafe mobile app or webapp:
- Open the menu by clicking on the three horizontal lines at the top of the screen
- Choose Settings
- Select PINs
- Select Add Custom PIN
- Follow the onscreen prompts to create and save each new PIN you'd like to add
User PINs are similar to the Master PIN, but cannot access the menu to change system settings. These can be added and deleted as needed, only you have control to do this.
