Can Simplisafe connect to Alexa?
Absolutely! Linking SimpliSafe with Alexa makes protecting your home even more convenient. Whether you’re heading out for the day or winding down for the night, a simple voice command is all it takes to make sure your system is set.
What you’ll need before you start
Before you connect SimpliSafe to Alexa, make sure you have:
An Amazon Alexa device (like Echo Dot, Echo Show, or the Alexa app)
A SimpliSafe Pro Premium plan (this is required for smart home integrations)
If you’re not yet on one of our professional monitoring plans, you can easily upgrade through your SimpliSafe app or online account.
How to connect Alexa to SimpliSafe
Setting up Alexa with SimpliSafe only takes a few minutes. Just follow these steps:
Open the Alexa app on your phone or tablet.
Navigate to the Skills tab (found under “More” in the app).
Search for “SimpliSafe” and select the SimpliSafe Home Control skill.
Tap “Enable” to activate the skill.
Log in with your SimpliSafe account details (use the same login as the SimpliSafe app).
Allow Alexa access to your SimpliSafe system. You can revoke access anytime in the SimpliSafe Web App under the “Integrations” tab.
That’s it! Your Simplisafe system should now be connected to your Alexa.
What can you do with Alexa and SimpliSafe?
Once connected, you can use Alexa voice commands to control and check your SimpliSafe system. For example, you can say:
“Alexa, ask SimpliSafe to arm my system in Home mode.”
“Alexa, tell SimpliSafe to lock up.”
“Alexa, ask SimpliSafe for my current status.”
You can find more supported Alexa commands in our guide to using Simplisafe with Amazon Alexa. It's important to note that for your security, Alexa cannot disarm your SimpliSafe system.
Set up Alexa routines with SimpliSafe
Once you’ve connected SimpliSafe to Alexa, you can take things a step further by creating Alexa routines. Routines let you combine SimpliSafe commands with other smart home actions so that multiple things happen at once with a single phrase.
Here’s how to set up an Alexa routine with SimpliSafe:
Open the Alexa app on your phone or tablet.
Tap “More” in the bottom menu, then select “Routines.”
Tap the + icon to create a new routine.
Choose your trigger. This could be a voice phrase (like “Goodnight Alexa”), a scheduled time, or even another device’s activity (such as locking a smart door lock).
Add an action. Select “Smart Home” and choose SimpliSafe, then add the command you’d like Alexa to perform (for example, “Arm system in Home mode”).
Combine with other actions. You might also dim your lights, adjust the thermostat, or play relaxing music as part of the same routine.
Save your routine and give it a name.
Now, with one phrase like “Alexa, goodnight”, you can arm your SimpliSafe system, turn off your smart lights, and set the perfect nighttime atmosphere in seconds.

Connecting your SimpliSafe home security system to Alexa makes protecting your home even more effortless. In just a few steps, you’ll be able to arm your system and check its status using only your voice. So next time you’re heading out or settling in for the night, let Alexa handle it.
